OAK GROVE, MONTEREY — October 29, 2026. The City of Monterey included 10 consecutive sections of Park Avenue in its public list of upcoming 2026 pavement projects. The entries run from Del Monte Avenue toward Tenth Street and appear in the January 26, 2026 Measure P and S Oversight Committee meeting packet.
Which Park Avenue blocks are identified?
The published RSR 26 list names Park Avenue between Del Monte Avenue and Lake Street, and then Lake Street to First Street, First to Second, Second to Third, Third to Fourth, Fourth to Fifth, Fifth to Sixth, Sixth to Seventh, Seventh to Eighth, and Eighth to Tenth Street. Each is individually assigned to the OG — Oak Grove neighborhood area.
That is a long, continuous sequence of listed segments, but it is not proof that an uninterrupted construction closure has been scheduled. Street programs are often performed in phases, and the public list does not identify the exact dates or operating hours for each block.
What the city document does—and does not—establish
The table is headed “Measure P/S Upcoming Paving Projects”, which means the city identified these Park Avenue segments for its street-work planning. It is not a construction completion certificate, contractor notice, or guarantee that the work would proceed without a change in scope or schedule. As of this October 29 review, California58 has not independently verified whether contracts or crews were assigned to each section.
Why residents should monitor construction notices
Park Avenue connects an established residential neighborhood with approaches to the waterfront and other local streets. Surface work can involve temporary parking restrictions, equipment, lane control or driveway access changes. Those are potential construction effects, not verified restrictions now in place on Park Avenue.
Residents seeking actual dates should consult Monterey Public Works, posted curbside notices and the city’s meetings and transportation updates. Anyone who encounters an urgent road hazard should report the exact intersection rather than relying on a months-old paving list.
